D: Few studies have been done on men about their knowledge, attitude and practice on contraception as most studies are directed at women. Commercial motorcycle riders are a unique group of men who are young, operate their transport business for long hours, deal direct one-one or one-two with their customers and operate at many corners of kampala city, even in slum areas. Their education status and nature of work may have influence on their contraception and that of their partners. It is of interest to find out their knowledge, attitude and practice on contraception. It will show how they do it and how they involve their partners in practice of contraception. The research was done to find out knowledge, attitude and practice of contraception among commercial motor cycle riders in kawempe division, kampala district, Uganda. METHODOLOGY This was a cross sectional study done amongst commercial motor cycle riders who were sexually active in kawempe division, kampala district, Uganda. Single cluster sampling technique was used and data collected by face to face interviewer administered questionnaire and focus group discussion. RESULTS: The majority, 99% of the 254 interviewees knew of atleast one or more methods of contraception. Most knew of barrier (condom) method at 89%. Most of the commercial motor cycle rider had positive attitude towards use of contraceptive. Most of the commercial motor cycle riders, themselves, 59% practiced contraception during last sexual contact and the method commonly used by the CMCR themselves was condo, at 95%. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The research found that 99% of CMCR knew of at least one method of contraception, majority support use of contraception and most 59% practiced contraception last sexual contact with 95% using the condom. The recommendations are to reinforce the knowledge so that more CMCR and their partners can increase their practice of contraception and the male condom to be made more easily available in areas frequented by the commercial motor cycle riders.en_US
