dc.description.abstractConfronted with the crisis of teacher attitudes towards work in Mayuge District, the study set out to investigate the influence of head teachers‟ transformational leadership model and teacher attitudes towards work in private founded schools in Mayuge District. The study was guided by three research objectives, which were provided by Bass (1985)‟s Transformational Leadership Model (TLM). These are: To establish the influence of the head teachers‟ individualised consideration on the teachers‟ attitude towards work; To establish the influence of head teachers‟ intellectual stimulation on the teachers attitude towards work and To establish the influence of head teachers‟ inspiration motivation on the teachers attitude towards work in the public secondary schools in Mayuge public schools. A qualitative approach was used, under which a phenomenology research design was employed. The target population included head teachers, deputies and all classroom teachers in five private schools in Mayuge District. Non probability purposive sampling technique was applied. Data was collected using interviews, document analysis and Focus Group Discussions. Qualitative data was subjected to thematic analysis using the content analysis technique and findings were presented in a narrative form. Findings indicated that the three constructs of TLM (individualised consideration, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation) has an effect on teacher attitudes towards work. The study concluded that TLM has an influence on teacher attitudes towards work. The study recommended that Mayuge district Education Officers and concerned stake holders should consider certain special qualities such as confidence in the suitable candidates for school headship, head teachers to always help teachers experience passion and promotion of continuous professional development (CPDs) among others.en_US
