Report on the Re-development of the new taxi park, in Kampala district.
Abstract
This project report is about the Construction and Project Management practices that the author participated in as a Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor during the Re-development of the New Taxi Park; at Plots 1A-7A, 9A-11A, 15A Mackay road, 3A-5A Namirembe road, in Kampala district.
The report delves into details of how the project was conceived; the various stakeholders involved, procurement method used, and project implementation techniques employed.
In Chapter One; focus is on the project back ground, contract data, project scope, funders, beneficiaries, consultants, the contractor and other project stakeholders. The author’s involvement and roles on the project are also discussed in this chapter.
Chapter Two; discusses the different phases of the project, construction methods, activities and contract administration procedures undertaken during the execution of this project. It discusses the different stages in the project from site possession through construction to handover, the challenges encountered and how they were solved.
Chapter Three; discusses application of project management knowledge to the implementation and administration of this contract. The different project management knowledge areas are
explored in the context of the project, with particular emphasis accorded to scope, cost, quality,
time, procurement and communication management.
Chapter Four; gives a general conclusion on the project, what challenges were faced, and how they were either mitigated or overcome, and makes recommendations for improvements for future projects.
