Social support, coping strategies and psychological wellbeing among the elderly
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to find out whether there is a significant relationship between. social support, coping strategies and psychological wellbeing among the elderly in Mukono District. The sample was 100 respondents aged 65 and above. The research design used in the study was a correlational research design. Spearman's rank order correlation coefficient was used to analyze data. The findings revealed that: there is a significant relationship between social support and coping strategies; there is no relationship between coping strategies and psychological wellbeing; and there is no relationship between social support and psychological wellbeing. It was therefore recommended that a further study could be undertaken to determine other factors that might have a relationship with psychological wellbeing.
