Abstract
The task of this paper is to advance the view that the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPCs) of Great Lakes Region would do better to endeavor and resolve political disharmony using peacemaking strategies rather than engaging in wars which are horribly expensive and largely counter-productive. Many African nations, as the case of the Great Lakes region illustrates, have a propensity to resort to war first and foremost and only remembering negotiated peace afterwards.
