Spirituality, academic achievement and girl-child age at marriage

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish the relationships between spirituality, academic achievement, and girl-child age at marriage. The study adopted a correlational research design. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 145 adolescents. Spearman rank order correlation coefficient was used to test hypotheses. There was a positive moderate relationship between spirituality and academic performance. There was a positive moderate relationship between spirituality and age at marriage. There was a positive weak relationship between academic achievement and age at marriage. It is recommended that girl-children should be encouraged to be involved in spiritual activities if their academic performance is to be increased and if their age at marriage is to be delayed.
