| Title: | A Simulation modeling-based investigation into the impact of IT infrastructure on business process reengineering |
| Keywords: | Simulation modeling Business Process Reengineering |
| Issue Date: | Sep-2008 |
| Abstract: | Business Process Reengineering (BPR) literature promotes the value of business processes as essential gearwheels that help organizations to reach their goals. Profitability and performance of companies strongly depend on which business processes are employed and how these processes are designed. Today, most business processes heavily rely on IT. Similarly, many process design approaches claim that Information Technology (IT) is a major enabler of Business Process Reengineering, a view also shared by the Information Systems (IS) community. Despite, this there has been little or no effort to show the imminent interrelationship between Business Process and Information Technology infrastructure, similary there is no clear indication of which Modeling techniques could be used to assess such relationship. This study examines the links between IT infrastructure and BPR. The moderating effect information intensity of the firm are also analyzed.
This paper uses the insights gained during the Research to depict the dynamic relationships between Information Technology Infrastructure and BPR, to develop a dynamic Tool that will assess
the impact of IT infrastructure on BPR. The study also examined the role of Information technology in BPR and its interdependency in the organization. |
