Abstract: This case study highlights the importance of incorporating change management into the overall strategy for implementing organisational transformation in order to achieve the full benefits expected of set change initiatives. The study reviews the relationship between organisational change and the development of Organisational Citizenship Behaviour or OCB (displayed by employees beyond the demands stipulated in their job titles) and Counterproductive Work Behaviour or CWB (deliberate actions by individuals to violate central organisational policies, rules and procedures and may include acts of commission and/or omission). Qualitative data in the form of actual events, verbatim, behaviour and actions of the study's sample group were collected by the researcher over a period of seven months (from May to November 2002) compiled into a dairy of events. The data was then coded and sorted and matrices, vignettes and networks were used to display and analyze the information collected. The results of the study indicated a significant relationship between the study variables, and they also indicated that gone unnoticed CWB could affect the attainment of organisational change objectives.
