Abstract: Online Information Systems are systems that are based on web technology and are likely to be integrated with conventional information systems such as database and transaction processing systems. An online child support management information system is a tool designed to provide management with an online access to the system so as to perform various operations. This project presents the findings from the study, which was carried out to investigate and develop a cost effective online management information system that would enable administrators and users to have an online access of the system. It was also intended to allow operational workers in all the branches of an organization to have timely sharing of resources, thereby minimizing the operational and management costs. Basing on the system study findings, it was established that administrators and operational workers from all the branches do not have an online access to the system; timely resource sharing is difficult for operational workers in various branches, thereby increasing management and operational costs. To achieve the project objectives, a design was developed using a context diagram, data flow diagram for process modeling and entity relationship diagram for data modeling. System prototype was developed using PHP embedded in HTML for creation of the website interfaces. The database was designed sing MySQL that supports SQL queries. The system was then tested and validated. It was therefore concluded that information access and sharing can be improved through the use of an online management information system. This study recommends an online management information system for easy use and timely access to information.
