Abstract: Information Management (IM) plays an important role in organizations throughout their existence. In modern healthcare settings and medical centres they are adopted to manage the ever-increasing quantity of patient data. It aims at effective and efficient service delivery to the patients. The developed software is intended to ease the task of data management in KCC HCC, by storing, retrieving, and updating of patients and other related information of the HCC. A study was therefore carried out with the aim of establishing problems such as time wastage in retrieving and entry of data, errors made during capturing of data and location of vital information that were being experienced in KCC HCC due to the use of manual system. The study was also done to find out weaknesses of the original system. From the study it was established that KCC HCCs use manual data filing system, which involves a great deal of clerical effort and time wasting. Therefore, the Information Management Software (IMS) to handle this data is highly needed. The project was therefore designed to provide an effective IMS that would provide a quick storage, retrieval, and updating of data upon logging on the system. Entities were identified together with their attributes and these were used to make the design model. The implementation was done using Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Java script, and MySQL.
Description: A project report submitted to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology for the study leading to a project in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Information Technology of Makerere University.
