dc.description.abstractThe study sought to explore the factors affecting the performance of UPE program in Rubaga Division, Kampala District. The study was guided by three objectives namely; to examine the relationship between; human resources; funding; community participation and the performance of UPE program in the said division. A co-relational research design guided the study using both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. A sample of 122 respondents participated in the study. Questionnaires and interview guides were used to collect quantitative and qualitative data. Pearson’s Linear Correlational Coefficient (r) was used to determine the magnitude and significance of the relationship between variables. The findings were that there is a positive relationship between; human resources; funding; community participation and the performance of UPE programs. Conclusions were that there was a positive correlation between; human resources; funding; community participation and the performance of UPE programs. The researcher therefore recommended that; the government should recruit more teachers in UPE schools; should provide more financial support to UPE schools; school managers and administrators in should involve the community in school affairs; through radio talk shows, local government leaders and school managers, government should advise parents to appreciate their roles and responsibilities, towards their children’s education and accept to contribute towards lunch provision for their children at school.en_US
